Get ready for Tax Time 2024: Easy steps to book your appointment
I am looking forward to this 2024 Tax Season.
As always I’ll be open extended hours during tax time.
Below is some information to help with booking your appointment for this 2024 Tax season.
Online bookings: these make it easier for clients to find a time that suits their schedule. To book an appointment, click here.
Alternatively, clients can call and speak to our friendly admin team during office hours.
Phone appointments: these are our clients preferred option, making it easy to fit into our clients day without the need to travel to our office.
Again this year, I will be offering late night phone appointments, which will be on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s and I’ll also be working on Saturday’s.
Face-to-face appointments are available at the Miranda Accounting’s office in Chelsea Heights on Monday’s only.
I can see a lot of my clients have already booked their appointment in, which is great.
I ask that clients be patient with their appointment booking, as it is my busy time. If a client misses their appointment, rebooking can be over a 3 week wait.
- WARNING FROM THE ATO -
The ATO have warned ‘Get it right - wait to lodge’ emphasising the importance of waiting until income statements are ‘Tax Ready’ before lodging.
TAX TIME commences from the 14th of July 2024
Your income statements will be ‘Tax Ready’ after the 14th of July 2024, along with private health insurance, bank interest, dividends and Centrelink income. As a tax agent, I receive all this information in readiness for my clients appointments.
Waiting until your income statements are ‘Tax Ready’ reduces the likelihood of the ATO, flagging a tax return and slowing down any tax returns due to missing information.
The ATO’s 3 key focus areas for this tax time.
The ATO has announced it will be taking a close look at 3 common errors being made.
-Incorrectly claiming work-related expenses.
-Inflating claims for rental properties.
-Failing to include all income when lodging.
Preparing for 2024 Tax Time appointments
Some helpful tips:
To save on bookkeeping fees, we recommend having all receipts summarised and totalled.
If clients are claiming the logbook method for a motor vehicle, clients need to have the business usage percentage totalled.
If clients have an investment property, clients need to ensure they have the rental statement, interest on the loan and any other expenses related to the property.

Our Audit Shield offering
As always, we take care when preparing our clients income tax returns, in the case of an audit, clients can take up Audit Shield offering. This covers my fees to assist clients in the event of an audit.
Clients will need to mention this during their appointment if they would like to take up this cover.
